Steve Sprague, who oversees licensing functions, described a proposed change to temporary off-premise (event) liquor permits: under the current fee schedule the city charges $25 for the application and $10 per day per event; staff proposed switching to a $25 per event flat fee. "What we would like to do is go to just a flat $25 per event," Steve said, noting the fee is capped by state law.
Staff said they will bring ordinance changes to the Liquor Control Board and to the commission later in the year, looking to implement the change starting in January. Commissioners discussed related licensing policies (transfer fees and caps) and asked that the proposal be routed through liquor control for review. No formal motion to change the ordinance was adopted at this meeting.
Staff characterized the change as administrative and minor compared with other fiscal items before the commission, and said they would present a revised ordinance for formal consideration before any fee change takes effect.
