He reported recent local protests he had attended and urged people to connect with groups including For the Many, Mid Hudson Valley DSA, Hudson Valley Strong, Indivisible 845 and Raymond Ave. Resistance Group. Latona also warned residents about sightings of the invasive spotted lanternfly around the city and relayed New York State Department of Environmental Conservation guidance to inspect outdoor items and destroy egg masses.
Latona said he is the Democratic nominee for Poughkeepsie Ward 8 on both the Democratic and Working Families Party ballot lines, noted early voting will run Oct. 25 through Nov. 2, and that Election Day is Nov. 4. He provided a contact phone number and email address during his remarks. These statements were made as public comment and not as part of a formal council agenda item.
