Advisory board authorizes selection committee to pick branding firm from three finalists

The Moab Tourism Advisory Board on Aug. 12 authorized its selection committee to pick a branding agency from three finalists and present the committee’s recommendation to the Grand County commission for approval.

The board voted unanimously to grant the selection committee authority to complete vendor selection and advance a contract. The committee had screened 36 proposals, shortlisted three firms, conducted on‑site presentations and recommended further due diligence before final selection.

Why it matters: A new destination brand will shape marketing, messaging and creative work used across paid campaigns, PR outreach and partner materials; the board said it sought a community‑driven outcome and emphasized public involvement in the branding process.

Staff described the selection process: an initial written review of proposals, scorecards submitted by committee members, then in‑person presentations by three finalists. The three finalists named in meeting materials were Moxie Sozo, Vladimir Jones and Camp 4 (presentation materials are in the board packet). The committee said two of the three were particularly strong and that it would complete final due diligence before the county commission considers the recommended contract.

A motion gave authority to the selection committee to finalize vendor choice and forward it to the commission. Meeting minutes show the motion was seconded and approved; board members confirmed the process will return to the full board and the commission before any contract is executed.
