Board members confirmed staffing and membership actions at the Aug. 27 meeting and discussed a schedule to recruit replacements for departing and outgoing seats.
Jasmine Duncan reminded the board that several seats will be vacant by year‑end and urged the group to post openings promptly and conduct interviews so new members can step in without long gaps. Melissa Jeffers said she can post openings if the board provides closing dates and interview windows. “If you'll just give me dates when you wanna do interviews and you want them to close and open, I can get that posted,” she said.
Members identified three spots expected to open: the municipal representative seat (the city member who currently attends as a nonvoting participant), a seat held by Forrest Rogers that cycles off at the end of his term, and the seat vacated by Melissa when she steps down from the board. Board members discussed recruiting Corey (City of Moab community development) as a candidate for Jasmine’s municipal seat; Corey said he would consider applying.
The board agreed to consolidate postings and hold a coordinated application period and interview schedule rather than staggered recruitment. Board members asked staff to circulate a calendar with proposed posting dates and interview windows so the board can finalize the schedule by email before a formal posting.
This discussion produced no formal appointment votes; county administration will post openings and the board will conduct interviews as provided in the county appointment process.
