Grama Senior Center outlines programs, partnerships and transportation services

A representative of the Grama Senior Center presented programs and services to the commission on Sept. 2, highlighting collaborations with Utah Legal Services, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Southwestern Utah Health Department, and local medical and nonprofit partners. The center described legal clinics, VA-benefits assistance, caregiver support groups, dementia classes, heart-health presentations, an influenza clinic, and nutrition and Medicare counseling.
The center said it operates an equipment loan program for wheelchairs and walkers and distributes donated clothing and hygiene items. It also outlined social activities — concerts, teas, holiday dinners, a cookie exchange, a float in the light parade and craft fairs — and credited the Bard Music Fest and other donors for free concert tickets for seniors. The presenter thanked the commission for help acquiring a handicap-accessible van and said future trips and events are planned, including a Heber visit, a Grand Junction shopping trip and a spring Santa Fe trip.
No formal county action or funding request was made during the presentation; the center asked for continued support and acknowledged county assistance on the van acquisition.
