County official reports strong early response to Grundy County comprehensive-plan survey

Grundy County’s development office reported substantial early participation in the county comprehensive-plan survey during the Land Use Committee meeting on Aug. 27.
Development staff said the outreach campaign is in its third week and the office has logged 221 completed full surveys; staff noted each full survey contains multiple topic-specific modules that multiply the response units for internal tracking. The development director said sector-response totals included 94 responses on county services, 128 on transportation, 83 on industry and workforce, 147 on housing, 108 on land use and 151 on agricultural and open space topics.
Staff said the county launched an official Facebook page last week and that social-media posting produced a 41% increase in survey responses in the prior week. The director listed partnerships that have helped distribute the survey (county sheriff’s office, VACs, community foundations, GDC, chambers, transit, housing authority and several local municipalities) and said the survey run will continue through December with stakeholder interviews and meetings scheduled.
Why it mattered: the comprehensive plan will guide future land-use decisions made in this committee and at the County Board. Staff asked committee members to promote the survey among their networks to reach an ambitious participation goal.
Next steps: the survey will remain open through December; staff will continue outreach, stakeholder meetings and public engagement events as the plan-development process continues.
