Aliyah Henton Williams, reporting for the coalition’s resource committee, told the August meeting that the long-promised resource guide had been delayed but that she and Leslie would deliver a first draft to Council Member Willie Lightfoot "within the next 30 days." She said the partners had submitted material and the delay was a matter of pulling pieces together.
Several coalition partners announced back-to-school and community outreach events occurring in late August. Announcements during the meeting included: - A back-to-school backpack and sneaker giveaway on August 27 at the stadium, 460 Oak Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (announced by Office of Violence Prevention representatives). - A community outreach kickball and ice-cream event on August 30 at the Trenton Jackson Art Center. - A book-bag and footwear giveaway on August 29 (Tops Plaza, 491 West Avenue) with food, clothes, sneakers and community surveys (announced by a coalition partner), 5 to 8 p.m. - A back-to-school drive in Greece on August 23 hosted by Greater New York Revitalization and Diverse Mosaics (partner announcement).
Coalition members asked that flyers and event details be distributed to the broader mailing list; several speakers said they had not received all materials and requested that organizers resend flyers.
No formal coalition action was taken; the announcements are community events organized by partners. The resource committee said it will circulate the guide draft for review once the document is compiled.
