Erath County Commissioners on Monday approved a memorandum of understanding with Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville to acknowledge the hospital’s participation in the federal 340B drug-pricing program.
County staff said the MOU carries no direct financial obligation for the county and that it enables the hospital to participate in the 340B program, which can lower medication costs for eligible indigent-care patients. "This allows them to participate in the 340B program, which allows them to qualify for better pricing on medicines... There is no financial impact on the county," a county official told the court.
The court approved the MOU by voice vote after the county judge noted conversations with hospital staff and the hospital’s representation that it provides reduced-rate medications to indigent patients, which aligns with state expectations for counties to facilitate indigent-care access.
Speakers on the item included the county judge and county staff who presented the MOU; no fiscal or contractual commitments were recorded in the minutes.
