Council awards $122,633.17 contract for four new picnic shelters at town parks

Town staff asked the council to award a construction contract totaling $122,633.17 for four new picnic shelters at Fort Mill parks, and the council approved the award to Badiment Company LLC.

Brown Simpson, speaking for parks and recreation, said the procurement followed an RFP and that seven companies had shown interest. The contract covers two shelters at Harris Street Park, one at Millstone Park and one at Steele Street Park. “The shelters will be a 15 by 20 shelters with a 20 by 25 concrete pad,” Simpson said, and added the frames will be steel with a metal roof and that the new structures will meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Simpson also said the project includes demolition of two older shelters and associated concrete work.
