Tooele City renews consulting agreement for financial statement preparation with WSRP

The Tooele City Council approved Resolution 2025‑72 on Aug. 6 to authorize a consulting agreement with WSRP Certified Public Accountants for preparation of the city’s fiscal‑year‑end financial statements for FY25.
Finance Director Shannon Wimmer explained the city uses a consultant to prepare the financial statements that an external auditing firm will then audit. Wimmer said the consulting fee varies depending on factors such as new leases or bond activity; the anticipated fee range for the engagement is $41,008.95 to a maximum of $48,008.25. The city seeks to provide thorough documentation to keep costs at the low end of the range.
Councilwoman Goches moved to approve the resolution and Councilman Hansen seconded. The council voted aye: Manzion, Goches, Hansen, McCall and Brady. The motion passed 5–0.
Wimmer said the contract enables staff to begin year‑end work to meet audit deadlines and that the external audit itself is performed by a separate firm.
