Rigo, the staff presenter, told the council the vehicles are scheduled for replacement in fiscal year 2026 and that funding is available in the fleet replacement fund; staff asked to place the order early to expedite delivery. "These vehicles are due for replacement in fiscal year 2026," Rigo said, and staff recommended the resolution as presented. Councilmembers asked whether the vehicles come pre-equipped with lights and sirens; Rigo clarified they are police-package Tahoes that require the department to outfit them in-house with lights, decals and other equipment. Councilmember Hector sought confirmation on whether the quoted vehicles were new and Rigo confirmed the quotes were newly updated. A motion to approve the resolution (excluding consent item e earlier in the meeting) passed unanimously.
