On June 24 the City Council accepted the resignation of Darryl Cowart from the Planning and Zoning Commission, effective the same day, and appointed Jerry Salyer to fill the unexpired term through Sept. 14, 2025.
City staff noted Cowart had served on the commission since 2021 and that his resignation email was included in the agenda packet. A councilmember nominated Jerry Salyer; after a second, the roll call recorded ayes from Birch, Chandler, McKenna and Salter and no votes from Childs and Mortimer. The motion passed 4–2.
The transcript includes council expressions of thanks to Cowart for his service and indicates staff will carry out vacancy procedures; it does not include a vacancy interview summary or Salyer’s biographical details beyond his application being among five in the agenda packet.
