During the Aug. 14, 2025 meeting of the Elko County Local Emergency Planning Committee, the chair reviewed the status of multiple grants and noted two awards recently approved by the county commission.
Lee Cavness, emergency manager for Elko County and the committee chair, said the committee still has outstanding invoices for 2024 and 2025 United We Stand and operations, planning, training and equipment grants and that fund requests submitted in July have not yet been paid. He said the committee had submitted final fund requests for radio batteries and Tablet Command equipment but had not yet received payment.
Cavness reported that the committee was awarded two 2026 fiscal-year grants and that the county commission approved them at its last meeting: $32,000 for an operations, planning, training and equipment grant and $31,752 for a United We Stand grant. He told members that invoices for outstanding grants should be submitted to the chair and forwarded through fiscal channels for payment.
No committee vote was required at the meeting to accept the awards; Cavness said the awards were approved by the county commission at its previous meeting. Committee members had no additional grant actions at the Aug. 14 session and were asked to forward outstanding invoices and documentation to the chair for processing.
