County OKs updated Forest Service cooperative agreement and bid authorization for Lamoille MSE wall project

The Elko County Board of Commissioners voted to ratify an updated cooperative agreement with the U.S. Forest Service and to authorize the county to reissue bids for the Lamoille mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall project.

Dennis, representing the county roads department, told the board the project had been developed last year but was short on funding. He said the U.S. Forest Service provided an additional roughly $332,000, bringing the project to “just a little over a million” and that the county will front costs and request reimbursement from the Forest Service as work proceeds.

Board members asked whether the added funding would attract bidders; Dennis said the extra money should cover projected costs including engineering, design and inspection and make solicited bids viable. The board moved, seconded and approved the funding modification and authorization to go back out to bid.
