Elko County commissioners honor two retiring Carlin judges with proclamations

The Elko County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved proclamations honoring Judge Dee Burton Primo and Judge Terry Feasel for their years of service to the Carlin Justice and Municipal Courts.

The board read proclamations that recited each judge’s years of service, roles in the court and community recognition. The commissioners moved and seconded the proclamations during the meeting and voted in favor; the chair said the motion carried.

Judge Dee Burton Primo, who the proclamation said served in court clerk and judicial roles between 2006 and 2024 and was elected justice of the peace in 2022, spoke briefly and accepted the county’s recognition. Judge Terry Feasel was described in her proclamation as first appointed in 2007 and elected in 2009, and the proclamation noted 14 years of service ending in 2021.

The board invited each judge to the front for photos after the proclamations passed. A member of the public, identified as Barbara Heathery, offered remarks recounting professional respect for both judges.
