Pondera County approves $10,000 bid to remove mobile home, clean Brady property

Pondera County commissioners approved a $10,000 contract with Stokes Contracting LLC to remove and destroy a dilapidated mobile home and clean debris on the Brady property during the July 9 meeting.
Commissioner 2 said the county’s road department had already removed 15 abandoned vehicles from the property into the county’s junk-vehicle program. “They went into the junk vehicle program,” Commissioner 2 said. “It's so broken down. They're just gonna have to crush it there and put it in, then haul it to the landfill and dispose of it.”
The junk-vehicle program will cover the mobile-home portion of the cost with a payment of about $2,512; the commission approved a separate $10,000 bid to remove the remaining structures and clean the site. Commissioner 2 noted the program’s mobile-home payment is typically available for one removal per fiscal year; “we're already using up our only one for 25/26,” Commissioner 2 said.
Commissioner 2 moved to approve the $10,000 bid from Stokes Contracting LLC; Commissioner 3 seconded the motion. After affirmative responses, the chair declared the motion carried.
County staff said the shed on the property will remain and that the shed’s contents—reported as full of tires—will be removed. A separate discussion about mobile-home tax abatement was tabled pending an updated dollar amount from the treasurer.
The action authorizes site cleanup and disposal of the mobile home at the landfill under the county’s junk-vehicle program; staff will coordinate disposal and invoicing with the program’s payment.
