Superintendent Dr. Homan reported Aug. 4 that the district received nearly $130,000 in donations during the summer from PTSAs and other partners, and highlighted continuing support from the Lake Washington Schools Foundation for the Care Solace student mental‑health navigation service.
Homan listed contributing PTSAs and schools including Blackwell, John Muir, Robert Frost, Redmond Elementary, Norman Rockwell, Englewood and Lake Washington High School. The superintendent said data show placement rates are higher for students and families who use Care Solace compared with seeking mental‑health care independently.
In addition, Homan said a donor organization, OutTeach, has provided an in‑kind donation constructing an outdoor learning project at John Muir Elementary and that OutTeach has connections with the Seahawks. The superintendent thanked donors for the outdoor learning space and the foundation’s ongoing support of student well‑being services.
The board received the donation report as part of the consent/finance materials; no separate vote on donations was recorded other than the routine consent agenda approval on Aug. 4.
