The council approved a partnership agreement with Lone Star EMT LLC to allow EMS personnel to complete field clinical training with the City of Eagle Pass Fire Department.
Fire Department leadership told the council the internship arrangement will let Lone Star personnel gain practical experience in emergency settings beyond routine transfer work, improving competency and quality of care. The chief said the arrangement comes at no cost to the city and that similar agreements with students have been approved previously; the present agreement covers employees of the private provider.
Council action: A motion to approve the partnership passed unanimously.
Ending: Staff will execute the agreement and coordinate training so private ambulance personnel can perform field clinical training alongside the fire department; the chief recommended the partnership as a quality and liability-reduction measure for mutual aid situations.
