The Eagle Pass City Council approved a resolution directing the city manager to engage with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) on traffic infrastructure issues and to seek a meeting with the TxDOT district engineer to discuss ongoing and proposed projects.
Public Works Director Daniel Lara said TxDOT proposed several possible meeting dates and that the city would invite the full council, including recently elected members, to participate. Lara told the council the meeting would provide an opportunity to discuss community concerns about TxDOT projects and to explore options such as median beautification where removal of pavement is not feasible.
"We reach out to them because we noticed that other cities, they do have allowed to put trees or to put some landscaping," Lara said, describing medians with live oaks as a local example the city could pursue if TxDOT permits landscaping.
Council approved the resolution unanimously and staff said they will share proposed dates and coordinate the meeting with TxDOT.
