The Navasota City Council authorized the mayor to execute a services agreement with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) to continue e-911 public safety answering-point (PSAP) services.
A staff presenter said BVCOG has provided the city's PSAP services for more than two decades and supplies equipment and call-taking systems. The presenter reported BVCOG logged just under 5,009 9-1-1 calls for the period Jan. 1 through Aug. 31, 2024, which the presenter summarized as about 29 calls per day and roughly 600 calls per month for that eight-month period.
Councilmember Mr. Phillips moved to authorize the mayor to sign the agreement; Mr. Gessner seconded and the motion passed without opposition. Staff said the agreement continues BVCOG's role, includes annual service fees and that the city will continue operating two PSAP stations locally.
