Everman council accepts April and May financial reports; members ask for clearer timing amid ongoing audit

The Everman City Council accepted the city’s financial reports for April and May 2025 at its June 24 meeting after a brief discussion about circulation timing and an ongoing audit.

A councilmember moved to accept the financials and a second was recorded; the council then polled and voted to accept the reports (Places 1–6 and the mayor voted "Aye").

Councilmembers said they would like clearer expectations for when detailed financial reports are distributed and asked for timely notifications when audit activities delay the packet. Finance staff and the City Manager explained that the reports are factual, reflect a point in time and are difficult to produce more quickly during the audit period. The Finance Director urged councilmembers to contact her directly with questions and said that staff will be available to explain any items outside the meeting.

The City Manager and finance staff said the audit firm sets much of the audit schedule and that staff have begun discussing audit timing with the auditors. Councilmembers suggested a simple notification to the council when audit activities delay report delivery; staff agreed to implement improved email notices. No change to policy was adopted at the meeting; staff said the subject would be discussed later in the agenda when the council considers potential policy changes tied to new state law and meeting schedules.
