Summary
Council approved Resolution 2025-06-02 authorizing an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County for reconstruction of Wichita Street; the county will fund reconstruction while Everman will pay for roadway milling (estimated $40,000–$50,000) from street improvement funds.
The Everman City Council on Tuesday approved Resolution No. 2025-06-02 authorizing an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County for reconstruction of Wichita Street from Bell Street to Enon Avenue, with the county covering reconstruction costs and the city covering milling of the existing roadway.
A city staff member said the county approached Everman to assist with Wichita Street, noting the roadway requires higher-rated asphalt due to frequent failures. The staff member said the city’s only expense on the project would be the milling of the existing roadway — estimated in the range of $40,000 to $50,000 to be paid from street improvement tax funds — and that County Commissioner Miles is providing county funds for the reconstruction.
The staff member confirmed there are no plans to widen the road as part of the county-funded work. If the council approved tonight, staff said they would send the agreement to the county and that the county planned to place the project on its next commissioners’ agenda to begin work as soon as possible.
A councilmember moved, seconded and the council carried the motion to approve Resolution No. 2025-06-02. No construction contract with private contractors was authorized by the city; the vote authorized the interlocal agreement and the city’s milling contribution.
