Camp Hope veterans paddle event scheduled with practice on Oct. 11; organizers seek community support

An organizer told the council that Camp Hope will return to Nassau Bay this fall for a veterans paddle event, and he asked for continued logistical and sponsorship support.
The organizer said the project began around 2022 and that last year 45 veterans attended the Camp Hope paddle. "So we're gonna have a practice 1 on October 11. That'll be just practice in NASA Lake NASA. And then, then the 20 fifth, the Veterans from Camp Hope will be here," the resident said, giving dates for the practice and the main event.
He said organizers are coordinating with law-enforcement and water-safety agencies and that prior sponsors channel all proceeds to Camp Hope. "Part of what we're doing for water safety is we're just making sure that we get a lot of support from, the local law enforcement agencies, water agencies. So we already reached out to the Coast Guard, the, Sheriff's Department, and I'm sure NASA may support us again," the organizer said.
The organizer asked residents and businesses to consider sponsorship or to invite veterans to speak about their experiences at local events. Council members confirmed the practice and main-event dates and thanked organizers; no formal council funding or permit action was recorded during the meeting.
