The Nassau Bay City Council on July 14 approved awarding the rehabilitation and repainting of the city’s elevated water storage tank to AMR Industrial Coatings Inc. for $405,000.
City staff said 10 firms participated in the bid process and that AMR had prior experience with similar municipal projects. According to staff, the two lowest bids were vetted out because they lacked the required references or experience. Staff noted higher bids in the solicitation had reached roughly $600,000, so the $405,000 award was within the expected range.
Council voted to approve the contract during the July 14 meeting and asked about follow-up questions such as whether the award covered both interior and exterior work and how the city would handle any paint or logo decisions on the tank surface. Staff said the award covered the rehabilitation package described in the bid documents and that the city would coordinate artwork or logo placement separately.
Work on the tank is part of the city’s water system maintenance program; staff indicated the project will begin after contract execution and inspection arrangements are finalized. No protest or bid challenge was reported at the meeting.
