The Breckenridge City Commission voted July 1 to accept final completion of the Phase 2 street-improvement project and to authorize release of retainage contingent on receipt of required closeout documentation and completion of punch-list items.
Staff said the original contract began at $2,405,233.20 and that a final quantity-verification change order (Change Order No. 3) added $77,978.11 for a total construction completion contract amount of $2,908,049.94. The contract contractor provided closeout documents; staff reported a small number of punch-list items remained and recommended release of retainage once those items were confirmed complete. A one-year warranty on the work begins from the date of substantial completion.
City staff noted one outstanding punch-list item involved a tie-in on Harvey Drive North at Williams and said crews were on-site to complete that work. The commission authorized the city manager to execute the paperwork to accept the project and release retainage when staff confirms closeout.
Discussion vs. decision: the commission voted to accept the project and to permit release of retainage contingent on staff verification that the punch-list and closeout documents are complete.
