The discussion centered on several recurring issues: inconsistent application of sign rules across districts and reviewers; a lack of consolidated definitions; unclear treatment of murals; and enforcement of window-coverage and lighted/LED signs. Hempel summarized recommendations including compiling signage guidelines, setting approval criteria for murals and digital signs, providing visual examples in the code, and clarifying removal triggers for nonconforming signs.
