Omar Schlotettle, the city’s planning director, told the commission July 28 that the planning department received 11 subdivision submissions for June and walked commissioners through each site’s location, engineer and status. Items presented included Estero Subdivision at 2201 S. Benson Road (preliminary granted at planning & zoning July 22; staff said the item would go to city commission Aug. 25 for rezoning to R‑1), Barrera Subdivision at 5721 Northway Road (commercial, pending drainage and utilities), a Bicentennial-area one‑lot townhome subdivision at 808 S. 19th (pending drainage and utilities), Born Again Plaza at 3200 Northway Road (two‑lot commercial; preliminary July 22), and a Buddy Owens substation at 4612 Buddy Owens (conditional use permit and zoning board variance approvals were reported). Schlotettle also listed Conway Estate (about 57 single‑family lots, preliminary July 8), Hernandez Acreage (two single‑family lots on Prosper Road, preliminary July 22), Shops at Ware (commercial lot at 4800 N. Ware, preliminary June 17), the replan of Hidalgo Canal at 221 S. A Street (rezoned to R‑2 to permit two townhome lots and one single‑family lot), Serenity Subdivision (proposed 98 townhome lots, preliminary July 8; not yet rezoned), Victoria Acres (three single‑family lots at 13424 N. 20th, preliminary July 22) and two recorded plats including Taj Plaza at 4108 N. 10th (rear storage units tied to a front conditional use permit issue). Schlotettle summarized remaining issues that keep applications in review — primarily drainage, utilities and final engineering — and flagged a PUD on South Taylor and Uvalde that recorded but will return for amendments after a lot split. He invited questions and said staff will bring items back to planning bodies and city commission as they reach final status. The presentation was informational and no formal votes were taken during the workshop.
