Planning & Zoning reviewed the request on Aug. 5, 2025; staff said the commission recommended disapproval but with a favorable recommendation regarding the distance requirement. The commission discussed the 400‑foot distance rule and noted commercial frontage along the 20 Third corridor provides a buffer between the event center and nearby residences.
During the hearing no members of the public registered opposition. A commissioner moved to approve; the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote. Commissioners also voted to amend the city zoning ordinance to reflect the approval. Staff said the fire inspection must be completed before operation.
The permit is time‑limited to one year; staff will monitor compliance and the applicant must meet any conditions set by the conditional use process.
