Rancho detention pond project delayed by rain but moving toward completion, staff says

Eduardo, a city staff member, reported July 28 that the Rancho detention facility project is roughly 70%–77% complete and that heavy rain earlier in the summer caused two to three weeks of delay. He said the contractor has been adding trucks and equipment to accelerate work and that staff hoped to reach substantial completion in about four to six weeks from the July 28 update. Eduardo noted that parks will add amenities and a trail after the detention work is finished so the site will have a secondary recreational use. Commissioners and a nearby resident asked about gaps in activity and reasons for perceived slow progress; Eduardo said the summer rains and a high water table had oversaturated the ground, which limited the contractor’s ability to progress for a period.
