The McAllen City Commission approved change order No. 4 and the final reconciliation for the Camp McAllen contract after staff reported the project came in under budget.
City staff said contract adjustments and removal of some amenities produced a net deduct of $79,004.32, bringing the final contract amount to $1,798,502.44 and leaving the final contract time at 252 calendar days. Staff recommended approval of the change order and final payment; a motion to approve carried unanimously on the record.
Separately, the commission approved a resolution authorizing recreation-equipment rental and camping rates for Camp McAllen. Staff said a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in approximately 10 days, with the campground opening within the following two weeks. Commissioners discussed using the project savings for additional needs at the site, such as guardrails, and staff concurred that the credit could be evaluated for remaining requirements.
No formal amendments to the contract period were proposed; staff reported the contractor will receive a credit rather than additional compensation.
