Commissioners approved a six-month contract extension Aug. 18 to retain Securus Technologies for the county corrections phone, grievance and visiting systems while staff completes a new request for proposals (RFP).
Corrections commander explained that the contract with Securus expired Aug. 1 and the county has been preparing an RFP for replacement services, but the county's chief civil deputy prosecuting attorney was unavailable to finalize procurement documents. Securus agreed to a six-month extension to avoid a service gap while the RFP is finalized. The extension was supported by staff and approved by motion; Commissioner Clayton moved and the board carried the motion 3–0.
