Commissioners approve $59,312 paths-and-trails supplemental for Whistler Canyon vault toilet

The Okanogan County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a supplemental appropriation of $59,312 for the Whistler Canyon Trailhead vault toilet on Monday, adopting Resolution 100-2025.
County Engineer Josh Thompson told the board the project was planned after the current budget was approved and that the funding package includes $54,312 from the county’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) funds and a $5,000 match from the city of Oroville’s LTAC. Thompson said the appropriation covers grant and construction costs.
Commissioners opened and closed the public comment period with no public testimony. A motion to approve resolution 100-2025 was seconded and carried; the board discussed that the city of Oroville’s $5,000 contribution came through after the county’s award and was applied to the project.
The appropriation will allow design and construction to proceed to install a vault toilet at the trailhead, and staff will carry the project through the county procurement and construction oversight processes.
