County board approves Edgewood Drive funding amendment; construction remains years away

Staff explained the amendment adds funds from a later CRAB award to the Edgewood Drive project. "There's only so much in the pot when we applied. There was an award, and later we were awarded more, which is what this supplement is for," a county project manager said during the discussion. The board approved Amendment No. 2 unanimously.
Why it matters: county staff said the supplemental award helps bring the project to full funding in planning terms, but the construction phase is years away. Officials said the county is in early stages — surveying and data collection are underway — and construction in the six‑year plan is scheduled around 2030. Commissioners warned that inflation and material costs between now and construction could require future adjustments.
Public comment and context: A public commenter earlier asked why money was being added to Edgewood Drive and why the project had not been presented at the previous work session; staff responded that the grant awards occurred at different times and the current amendment aligns additional funds with the project. Ed Bowen later urged the county to reach a “gold standard” on Edgewood Drive similar to prior work on other county roads.
