Supervisors retroactively approve $103,782 emergency server purchase for Independence data center

Abhi said the county had budgeted for a backup at Independence but the immediate overheating risk prompted an emergency purchase. He asked the board to declare Roundstone Solutions a sole-source provider and retroactively authorize a purchase order not to exceed $103,782 for the Independence Data Center Nutanix server nodes.
Supervisors discussed the importance of redundant infrastructure and approved the retroactive authorization. The purchase was described by staff as necessary to ensure continuity for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and other finance reporting functions that depend on the Finance Enterprise application.
Action taken: The board approved the recommended retroactive authorization and sole-source designation and ratified the county administrative officer’s emergency purchase.
