The City of Kingman Clean City Commission on July 17 approved a fall cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 11, in coordination with the Public Works Department and agreed to meet at the Public Works parking lot for the event.

Commission staff also listed First Friday community events that the commission plans to attend: Aug. 1, Sept. 5 and Oct. 3, 2025. Commissioners asked staff to circulate event notices by email to allow participation even if event dates arise between meetings.

Staff reported that the commission’s recent Adopt-a-Highway cleanup — held in conjunction with the United Way Day of Caring — collected more than 132 bags of trash. Commissioners discussed repeating the same highway area for the fall cleanup and said Public Works will be the meeting point.

The commission heard a brief update on the Adopt-a-Block program: no new applications have been received this year; the last application came on April 17, 2025. Staff reviewed the application process and said volunteers can request a sign for the area they adopt; staff said the sign program involves a fee of about $65 if applicants choose a signed acknowledgment.

Action taken: Chairperson Carpenter made a motion to hold the fall cleanup on Oct. 11 in coordination with Public Works; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. Commissioners recorded unanimous approval during the roll call for the motion.

Staff said they will send reminders and logistics information, and that outreach could include First Friday events and city communications.
