Plano commission tables Grace Community Church replat and daycare permit to Aug. 18 after noticing error

The City of Plano Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 4 voted 8-0 to table consideration of a replat and a specific use permit for a daycare at Grace Community Church to the commission’s Aug. 18 meeting after staff reported a noticing error.

Staff planner Donna Sepulvedo told commissioners the replat for “Grace Community Church block A Lot 1R” and Specific Use Permit No. 193, with Basis Texas Charter Schools Incorporated listed as the applicant, must be re-noticed. Sepulvedo said staff is confident the item will be ready for the Aug. 18 meeting.

Commission discussion was brief. The presiding officer opened and closed the public hearing with no registered speakers. Commissioner Bernoff moved to table the item to Aug. 18; Commissioner Lingenfelter seconded. The motion passed 8-0.

Because the item was tabled for re‑notice, no substantive action was taken on the replat or the daycare permit at the Aug. 4 meeting. The item will return as publicly noticed at the Aug. 18 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting for full consideration and, if needed, public testimony.

Meeting context: the commission handled the consent agenda at the start of the meeting by a separate, unanimous vote before public‑hearing items; no speakers were registered on the Grace Community Church item.
