City staff told the commission they will return in July with a change order to add mill‑and‑resurface work and security upgrades to the transit building expansion project. Staff reported cost estimates of $82,488 to mill and resurface the existing parking lot and $24,881 to add cameras, upgraded door locks, and the software/hardware needed to manage the system.
The city manager said the combined cost of the two additions — $107,369 — would remain under the $3 million in grant funds available for the transit expansion, and no general fund contribution would be required. Staff said the aim is to align existing pavement and security work with the larger expansion rather than incur the cost later.
Commissioners asked whether a heated slab for the new garage had been included; staff recalled it was discussed for mechanics but did not think a heated floor was included in the current scope. Staff offered to confirm that detail and report back. The commission indicated general support for using grant funds and asked staff to bring firm change‑order figures to the next meeting.
The commission will consider the formal change order when staff present the detailed costs at the next meeting.
