BERKELEY, Mich. — On Aug. 4 the Berkeley City Council approved motion M65-25 authorizing the city manager to invite four law firms to interview with council as part of a vendor-selection process after staff and council reference checks.
Council member Baker moved to authorize the interviews and Council member Patterson supported the motion, which passed on roll call. City staff told the council that an earlier special work session reviewed reference-check feedback and council members’ comments on proposals; staff said the city received eight proposals and narrowed that pool to four firms for interviews.
City staff said they will reach out to all firms that submitted proposals, including the city’s incumbent counsel, to schedule interviews and that they are trying "to get them all into the same day." The list of firms to be invited was read into the record as part of the motion.
