City manager Alan Stager told the council Aug. 4 that staff will prepare ordinance language on electric bikes and scooters on an accelerated timetable to address safety concerns. He also reported that the Animal Control Board met and will recommend changes to animal-control ordinances. Stager said the e-bike/scooter ordinance is being prioritized from a public-safety perspective and that residents can expect draft language and proposed amendments within roughly 45 days. The animal-control board's recommended ordinance revisions should follow on a similar timeline. Council did not take action on the items at the Aug. 4 meeting; staff indicated drafts will be presented for council consideration and public review once prepared.
