Laura seconded the motion. Board clerk Deb Genesta called the roll and recorded unanimous approval: Cresta, Kevin, Laura, Leah and Katie all voted in the affirmative.
During first readings of additional policies, board members questioned language in GP 19 (school board meetings) that mirrors a statutory phrase: "any member may waive notice of a special meeting at any time before, during, or after such meeting. And attendance at a special meeting shall be deemed to be a waiver." The board said the phrasing — taken directly from statute — was difficult to interpret. Several members asked CASB (Colorado Association of School Boards) to have counsel clarify the meaning. Board members agreed they would keep the statutory language in policy if required, but they asked staff to draft lay-language clarifications and to pursue a written legal interpretation from CASB counsel or other legal resources before the next reading.
