The Artesia City Council on Aug. 11 received and filed the appointment of John Odyke to the city’s Beautification and Maintenance Committee and administered the oath of office.

Council member Manalo introduced the appointment, saying Odyke is a longtime Artesia resident and two‑time recipient of the city’s beautification award. The council voted 5–0 to receive and file the appointment, and the city clerk performed the oath. Odyke was welcomed by the mayor and council.
