Kingman resident urges downtown Grandview Pool upgrades, commission asks staff to add topic to November agenda

"The removal of the diving board and slide has left it far less engaging for our youth," Peterson said, and asked the commission to "consider adding updated fun and interactive water features such as a climbing or floating obstacle feature, a replacement slide and smaller diving platform, an interactive water jet, mushroom fountains, or tipping buckets."
The request came during the meeting's public-comment period. The commission does not respond to public comments during that portion of the meeting but may direct staff to study a matter or place it on a future agenda. Chairperson Fogg told Peterson the commission would add the item to the November agenda so staff could evaluate options before the 2026 swim season.
Why it matters: Commission members described the downtown pool as an accessible community gathering place, particularly for residents who live in the downtown area and for families who cannot easily reach other city pools. Peterson noted the pool's adjacent grassy area and the shallow wading pool as potential spots for low-cost, space-conscious features that could broaden use.
