Flagler County adopts proclamations for Breast Cancer Awareness, Constitution Week, National Service Dog Month and POW/MIA Recognition Day

At its Monday meeting the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted four ceremonial proclamations recognizing local observances and awareness efforts:
- October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month — requested by AdventHealth Palm Coast Foundation. Tony Papandrea, chairman of AdventHealth Palm Coast Foundation, and Sean Roton, director of the Freytag Cancer Center, described local screening and treatment resources and community fundraising. The board adopted the proclamation (motion by Commissioner Hansen, seconded by Commissioner Pennington).
- September (third week) 2025 as Constitution Week — read by Commissioner Pennington on behalf of the Old Kings Highway chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and adopted unanimously.
- September 2025 as National Service Dog Month — requested by Commissioner Richardson; representatives from Canine Companions and local volunteer puppy raisers attended and the proclamation was adopted (unanimous vote).
- Sept. 19, 2025 as POW/MIA Recognition Day — read by Commissioner Carney and accepted by Veterans Services Officer David Lyden; the board adopted the proclamation.
Each proclamation was read into the record, attested by Clerk Tom Bexley, and signed by Chair Andy Dance. The motions to adopt were made and seconded on the record and carried by unanimous voice votes.
