Alan Mollen, a co‑owner of Northwestern Mobile Home Park, asked the county to help enforce distress warrants and collect taxes on five trailers on his property that have been tax‑delinquent since February 2017.
Mollen told the board the delinquent accounts total roughly $29,000 and that his ownership is pursuing eviction proceedings; he asked the county to coordinate with the treasurer and the sheriff on collection and, if necessary, seizure and removal procedures to avoid abandonment that would leave him with cleanup costs. He provided statutes and background material to the board.
County staff and the sheriff’s office discussed practical constraints: hauling and storage of seized trailers can generate costs that sometimes exceed the recovered value, and the county must advertise and follow sale procedures, which take weeks. Staff estimated the five trailers could have exterior values in the six‑figure range but cautioned that interior condition, water damage and hauling/storage costs must be assessed.
The board asked staff (treasurer, sheriff and planning/zoning staff) to work with Mollen to assess interior conditions, estimate hauling and storage costs, and pursue distress warrant steps if eviction and seizure are necessary. Staff will provide estimates and next steps to the board.
