Keith County planning staff told commissioners that a planning employee (Steve) submitted a resignation effective the 30th of this month but agreed to remain until a qualified replacement is found. Staff said only one application had been received so far via Indeed and asked whether the hiring panel should include three planners or the whole board; commissioners said three members of the planning and zoning board typically handle interviews.
Planning staff asked commissioners to participate in a county tour for the comprehensive-plan consultant (identified in the transcript as "Keith Marvin and his crew"). The tour is scheduled for June 26 and will take a bus around county sites to show the consultant team existing growth patterns and local infrastructure; staff said the bus has a microphone and the county tour guide will describe points of interest.
Commissioners asked staff to circulate the applicant(s) and coordinate interview dates; staff and commissioners also discussed coverage while the planning position is vacant and agreed the current employee would stay on as needed.
No hiring decision was made at the meeting; staff were directed to proceed with candidate review, arrange interviews with the designated panel, and finalize logistics for the June 26 comp-plan tour.
