Committee favorably recommends technical reviser corrections to Utah Code

The Revenue and Taxation Interim Committee voted unanimously to give a favorable recommendation to a draft reviser technical corrections bill that makes non‑substantive corrections across Utah Code.

Representative Daley (Provo) moved to favorably recommend the draft; the committee chair called the motion and the committee approved the recommendation with no opposition. The committee’s presentation said the draft bill corrects errant cross references, removes obsolete entities (for example, references to an Innovation Lab and to a now‑defunct Crime Victim Reparations Board), fixes grammar and spacing, and removes or corrects codified section references that were made in error when last session’s bills were enrolled.

Staff said these changes are procedural and non‑policy: they make the code internally consistent, reduce drafting friction for future bills, and — if passed by the full legislature or in a special session — would avoid the need to carry technical corrections into later bills. The chair and staff emphasized the bill contains no substantive policy changes.

The committee’s favorable recommendation means the draft will proceed with committee backing; the committee did not place an immediate committee bill designation on it because that designation is reserved for general session practice. The motion passed unanimously.
