The Champaign City Council on Aug. 5 adopted an ordinance amending multiple sections of the Champaign Municipal Code to revise background-check processes for licensed applicants. The ordinance amends sections in chapters 6, 25 and 28 of the municipal code.

Council recorded the purpose as "amending various sections of chapter 6, chapter 25, and 28 of the municipal code provisions regarding our background check process for licensed applicants." No members of the public addressed the ordinance during the meeting; council voted 8-0 to adopt the amendments.

Action: motion to adopt the ordinance passed on a roll-call vote. The council did not request further staff work or delay the ordinance; it was approved as read.
