The Champaign City Council on Aug. 5 approved an engineering services agreement with ESI Consultants Inc. (Eska Consultants in the meeting record) of Urbana for design of the 2026 infrastructure maintenance project in an amount not to exceed $704,400.

Staff said representatives of the engineering firm were present if council had technical questions; Council member Pianfetti singled out Project 7 as an example of creative work to make certain neighborhoods safer and improve bus turnarounds.

Council voted 8-0 to authorize the agreement. The contract to design the 2026 infrastructure maintenance project is now authorized for execution by the city manager.

Action: motion to authorize the engineering services agreement carried 8-0. Staff will proceed with contract execution and project design work under the terms discussed in the procurement record.
