Prospector Park drainage contract term extended to Oct. 31; no change to contract amount

Dave Butler, parks superintendent, told council on July 14 that the Prospector Park drainage revision project has experienced several delays related to engineering, floodplain review and product submittals, and that material deliveries were delayed. Butler said the delays were unrelated to contractor performance and that staff recommends amending the contract term to extend the end date from July 31, 2025, to Oct. 31, 2025, to allow time for construction completion and punch‑list work.

Butler emphasized that the amendment does not change the original contract amount; the contractor agreed to hold the bid price despite the engineering changes. He said the construction phase was underway and staff anticipates completion in early September with the extended term covering any remaining punch list items. Butler said the amendment will be brought back on the consent agenda at the next council meeting.

Butler also noted that most work in the north portion of the park is grading and will not affect roadway access, but some walkways on the south and east sides will be impacted during the work. He said access to multipurpose fields will remain from the north or west.
