Board approves OSAA cooperative allowing Culver students to play on Redmond teams in 2025-26

The Redmond School District Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve an OSAA cooperative between Redmond High School and Culver High School that allows Culver students to join Redmond's boys and girls soccer programs for the 2025-26 school year.

The cooperative is year-to-year. The athletic representative said the coop is in its fourth year and currently includes three Culver boys and one Culver girl participating in Redmond teams; those students will be rostered under the cooperative if the board approved it.

At the meeting, the athletic director noted that the district has grown its overall fall-sports registrations by roughly 40 students compared with last year and that the boys program now fields varsity, junior varsity and JV2 teams, while the girls program has two full teams this fall. He said the coop helped provide roster depth and allowed the district to add a third boys team this season.

Board members asked about potential downsides: staff said that if local student numbers continue to grow, future coops could affect roster cuts, but district officials said no cuts were planned for the current year.

The motion to approve the OSAA soccer cooperative for the 2025-26 school year passed unanimously.

The board congratulated the district athletic administrator on completing national certification as an athletic director following the vote.
